Tate Wins a Decision, Raises Record to 14-0
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Olympic gold medalist Frank Tate used an 11-inch reach advantage and multiple combinations to score his biggest pro victory, a unanimous decision over veteran contender Curtis Parker in a 10-round middleweight bout Friday night.
Tate, a Detroit native living in Houston, improved his record to 14-0 with nine knockouts.
Judge William Kostrub scored the fight 10-0 for Tate, who won his gold medal at the 1984 Los Angeles Games in the 156-pound class. Judges Richard Murry and Eva Shain each favored Tate 8-2.
Parker, of Philadelphia, fell to 28-8 with 21 knockouts.
