A witness to the burning death of a Chilean resident of the United States during an anti-government protest last month in Santiago was indicted by a Chilean army prosecutor on charges of possessing gasoline bombs at the demonstration. He is Pedro Martinez, a student who admitted carrying two Molotov cocktails during the demonstration. Witnesses had testified that soldiers poured gasoline over two youths and set them on fire during a July 2 demonstration against the rule of President Augusto Pinochet. One of the victims, Rodrigo Rojas Denegri, 19, who lived in Washington, D.C., died of burns four days later. The other victim, Carmen Quintana, 18, was hospitalized with serious burns.
