Santa Monica : Parking Meter Rates Increased

The City Council voted Tuesday to raise downtown parking meter rates from 25 cents to 35 cents an hour. The council also voted to double the 25-cents-an-hour parking meter charge on Ocean Avenue and Main Street.

The increases will put Santa Monica’s meter rates in line with those of other beach cities, according to Ray Davis, the city’s parking and traffic engineer. The measure is expected to bring in an extra $500,000 a year for the city, he said.
