The trial of Bernhard H. Goetz, who shot four young men on a subway train on Dec. 22, 1984, and contended they had menaced him, was postponed for at least a month by a judge who expressed impatience with 1 1/2 years of delays. Judge Stephen Crane told attorneys to return Oct. 3 to discuss a possible new date for Goetz’s trial on several charges, including attempted murder. The postponement was requested by Goetz’s lawyer, Barry Slotnick, who said he was too busy in federal court representing alleged Mafia figures. Three of the youths have recovered from the wounds.
