The New Jersey Nets signed free agent Albert King, who has played with the Nets for five seasons, to a one-year contract reportedly worth $425,000.
The 6-foot-6, 210-pound forward, who has a career average of 14.4 points, was nearly signed by the New York Knicks early last season after becoming a free agent. But the Nets were able to retain him by matching the Knicks’ offer sheet, which they challenged as putting New York over the league-mandated salary cap. The offer sheet was reportedly worth more than $4 million over five years.
