16 Sockers Games Are Scheduled on Prime Ticket Cable Network
CARLSBAD — The San Diego Sockers will appear on Prime Ticket Network 16 times during the upcoming Major Indoor Soccer League season.
The Sockers have a three-year contract with Prime Ticket, a cable network available on Cox Cable in San Diego and on Daniels Cablevision in North San Diego County.
A Prime Ticket official said the network is talking with Southwestern Cable about joining its system. Southwestern and Cox are the major cable stations in San Diego.
The Socker package includes 12 road games and four home games. Randy Hahn, the play-by-play announcer for the last four years, will do the telecasts for 12 of the games on Prime Ticket. He will continue doing the broadcasts on KLZZ.
Last season, Prime Ticket broadcast six Socker playoff games, including the sixth and seventh games of the MISL championship series against Minnesota.
As might be expected, Bob Bell, the Sockers’ managing general partner, was pleased. “This deal puts indoor soccer in a different perspective than we’ve been in in the past. I think Prime Ticket is going to be gigantic. This exposure could attract a whole new group of soccer fans,” Bell said.
