Chilean Victim Treated in Canada
MONTREAL — The young Chilean woman who was severely burned, allegedly by soldiers, in protests during which a U.S. resident was fatally burned, will be hospitalized for up to three months, her doctors said Thursday.
Doctors at Hotel-Dieu Hospital said that Carmen Gloria Quintana, 18, who arrived in Montreal on Wednesday with eight members of her family, would need to remain in hospital at least a month and a half.
Quintana suffered burns over 67% of her body when she and Rodrigo Rojas, 19, were allegedly beaten, doused with a flammable liquid and set afire by soldiers during a protest.
