Community College Roundup : OCC Wins in Volleyball

Orange Coast College swept Long Beach City College, 15-1, 18-16, 15-9, in a nonconference women’s volleyball match at Long Beach Monday.

Karen Nickel led the Pirates with 15 kills and 3 service aces.

OCC (1-1) plays host to El Camino Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

In community college water polo:

L.A. Pierce 18, Cypress 8--Brent Hermanson scored six goals to lead Pierce to the nonconference victory at Cypress. Hans Snijewind scored four goals for Cypress. Pierce raised its record to 8-2 while Cypress fell to 1-3.

In community college soccer:

Mt. SAC 2, Cypress 1--Tim Pina scored on a penalty kick with two minutes to play to break a 1-1 deadlock and give Mt. SAC the victory in a nonconference game at Cypress.
