PREP FOOTBALL : Los Amigos Beats Estancia in a Wild One
Los Amigos beat Estancia, 41-26, Friday in a wild nonleague game in front of only 800 at Garden Grove High School.
The game featured more than 650 yards in total offense, 13 fumbles, 4 interceptions and 2 defensive touchdowns.
Lobos fullback Mike Eicherly scored his third touchdown with just 13 seconds left to seal the victory for Los Amigos (2-1).
Estancia fell to 0-3.
Lobos quarterback Andy Baturevich completed 7 of 10 passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns, and Eicherly had 84 yards in 15 carries.
For Estancia, junior quarterback Todd Brooks threw for 149 yards and a touchdown.
Los Amigos fumbled 10 times, losing five, including four in the first quarter. The Lobos scored on four consecutive drives in the second quarter to take a 27-12 halftime lead.
Estancia closed the gap to 27-18 when Eagle cornerback James Pacot intercepted a Baturevich pass and returned it 16 yards for a touchdown with 4:27 left in the third quarter.
Los Amigos led 34-18 after a 60-yard scoring pass from Baturevich to Eicherly on the first play of the fourth quarter.
Estancia narrowed the lead once again with an 11-play, 70-yard drive culminated by Scott Onstott’s one-yard touchdown run with 6:37 left.
