The national water polo teams of the United States and Italy, which last meet in the semifinals of the world championships, will play again Sunday at Newport Harbor High School at 5 p.m.
Italy defeated the United States, 10-9, in overtime but lost to Yugoslavia in the final in Madrid. The Soviet Union defeated the United States in the third-place game.
Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for students.
Members of the U.S. team expected to compete include Doug Burke, Jody Campbell, Pete Campbell, Kevin Robertson, Terry Schroeder and Craig Wilson.
There also will be a five-hour coaching certification clinic offered before the game. The fee is $10 and registration is from 11:30 to noon.
The clinic will include lectures from Bill Barnett, coach of the U.S team, and Fritz Dennerlein, Italy’s coach. The subjects will cover coaching philosophies and all aspects of play.
