Rancho P.V. : Western Ave. Plan OKd

The City Council this week approved a plan that sets new standards for commercial property along Western Avenue from Crestwood Street to Summerland Avenue.

Specific Plan III addresses design, height, signs, parking and setbacks for eight contiguous properties at an entrance to the city from San Pedro for westbound traffic on Summerland and for northbound traffic on Western.

The properties are not “visually distinct” as part of Palos Verdes, according to a staff report.

The plan encourages “quality” renovation and proposes “cohesiveness” in design in hopes of lending an identity to the site, according to the report.

The plan is the third of five to be approved by the council, said Greg Fuz, associate planner. Fuz said a public hearing is scheduled for December on a fourth plan involving other Western Avenue properties.
