Winners of this year’s Clio Awards honoring the top TV commercials from around the world will be screened in Los Angeles Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Wilshire Ebell Theater, 4401 West 8th St.

The awards were handed out at Lincoln Center in June, but the L.A. screening is the only time all of the winning commercials will be seen here. The Clios, now in their 27th year, are judged by advertising professionals gathered in 15 cities.

Thursday’s presentation also features eight classic commercials voted into the Clio Hall of Fame this year.

Tickets may be purchased at the theater box office or via Ticketmaster; they are $7 in advance or $8 the day of the show.

KCBS-TV Channel 2, embroiled in changes because of its recently introduced, controversial “next generation of local news” format, has lost another executive.

Erik Sorenson has resigned as news director for the station. That job will be filled for the time being by Don Dunkel, managing editor at KCBS-TV, until a replacement for Sorenson is hired.

A brief news release announcing Sorenson’s resignation noted that he had “skillfully guided ‘Channel 2 News’ for the last two years,” but went on to say that “because of philosophical differences, he has chosen to pursue other options.”

Last week, in the wake of sagging ratings for the new news-wheel format that was launched in mid-September, Frank Gardner resigned as general manager of the station. He was replaced by Tom Van Amburg, former general manager at Channel 7.

Neil Derrough, who as CBS Television Stations president had approved the new news format, also resigned.

With its 40th birthday approaching, KTLA Channel 5 is trying to round up kinescopes or videotapes of programs (and commercials) that ran on the station during its first decade. A particular item desired is KTLA’s first broadcast, seen on Jan. 22, 1947. It featured Bob Hope.

Shows received would be copied and returned, the station said. Contact: Nicholas van Hoogstraten, KTLA, 5800 Sunset Blvd., Hollywood, Calif. 90028; (213) 460-5581.
