Salamis Smell Fishy; Guards Destroy on Sight

WASHINGTON — Assistant Defense Secretary Richard N. Perle, well known for his gourmet appetite, said Tuesday that Icelandic guards apparently mistook his salamis for bombs at the summit and destroyed them.
Perle, the Pentagon’s top arms control expert and a veteran of summitry, said he never travels to such a meeting “without being prepared for every contingency.”

They “fell out of my window on the fourth floor of the hotel and were immediately set upon by Icelandic security guards and smashed to smithereens,” Perle said.
