Brunswick agreed to buy Bayliner Marine.
Skokie, Ill.-based Brunswick has agreed to buy Bayliner Marine Corp. in a $425-million deal that would link the world’s largest manufacturer of marine motors with the largest producer of pleasure boats. Brunswick said it hopes to complete the acquisition by the end of the year and expects the move to strengthen its position in the $14-billion marine products market. Bayliner, a privately held company headquartered in Arlington, Wash., makes 14-foot to 45-foot fiberglass boats and said it expects to have sales this year of more than $450 million.
