Culver City : Speed on 2 Streets Changed
The City Council of Culver City has voted to increase the speed limit on one street and decrease the limit on another, based on a traffic study performed by City Engineer Jim Davis.
The 25-m.p.h.-limit on Lucerne Avenue between Duquesne Avenue and Higuera Street was increased to 30 m.p.h. The limit on Overland Boulevard between Washington and Culver boulevards, the southern border of MGM Studios, was reduced from 40 m.p.h. to 35. The revised limits were based on radar studies of average driving speeds on the two roads.
Councilman Paul A. Jacobs, the only member to oppose the changes, said the limit on Overland Avenue should also have been reduced along a more densely populated area between Culver and Jefferson boulevards.
