KCET GROUP PLANS DORSEY EVENING

The KCET Women’s Council has circled Jan. 15 as the date for “A Coast to Coast Evening: Getting Sentimental With Tommy Dorsey,” a gala to benefit Channel 28. The dinner dance-entertainment event will take place at the Hollywood Palladium and will recreate the night in 1940 when Dorsey and his orchestra opened that ballroom.

Trombonist Buddy Morrow will be leading the Dorsey orchestra for this occasion. Mel Torme, Jack Jones, Maureen McGovern, Buddy Rich and the L.A. Voices are scheduled as performing guests on the show, which KCET will tape for national airing at a later date.
