SANTA ANA : Police Officer Shoots Store Robbery Suspect
A man who allegedly robbed a photo store in Garden Grove was shot Saturday by a policeman who chased him into Santa Ana, a police spokesman said.
Lt. John Woods said the suspect, who was not identified, walked into the Photo Place at 14051 Brookhurst St. and robbed an employee of $40 at about 4 p.m. and then fled in a car.
Moments later, a patrolman spotted the suspect and chased him. When the suspect was involved in a minor accident at the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Hazard Street in Santa Ana, he fled on foot.
The patrolman chased him and gunfire was exchanged, Woods said, and the suspect was hit once. He was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange where he was listed in serious condition, Woods said.
Woods said the investigation was continuing.
