Construction Started on 2nd Homart Tower
Construction has begun on Centerside II, Homart Development Co.’s 16-story office building in Mission Valley, San Diego. Completion is scheduled for fall, 1987.
The $40-million, 282,000-square-foot building is the tallest office building under construction in Mission Valley and is rising next to Centerside I, the Commonwealth Bank Building. The new building will match Centerside I’s glass curtain wall and will expand on the park-like setting with its pond, and brook.
Negotiations are under way to include the addition of new on- and off-ramps to Interstate 8 and the realignment and widening of Camino del Rio North.
Centerside II is Homart’s first entry into the San Diego office market. Homart, founded by Sears in 1959, is a diversified commercial real estate development firm involved primarily in office buildings, multi-use and retail projects. Homart is the major development arm of the Coldwell Banker Real Estate Group. Other Homart West Coast office projects include the Wilshire Landmark, Los Angeles, and Xerox Centre, El Segundo.
Nielsen Construction Co. is general contractor for Centerside II.
