Unisys Corp., the industry’s second-largest computer firm, said it will close its circuit board plant in Eau Claire, Wis., by March and its computer systems, peripherals and printed circuit board plant in Bristol, Tenn., by July. Unisys employs 1,570 people in the Tennessee plant and 260 in the Wisconsin plant. The plants’ work will be transferred to other Unisys locations. The layoffs were part of a previously announced program to reduce the Unisys work force by 8%.
