After years of trumpeting and weeks of previews, the Museum of Contemporary Art, 250 S. Grand Ave., opens to the public today.

Visitors approaching through the Grand Avenue entrance descend into an outdoor sculpture terrace and proceed to beautifully crafted galleries illuminated by pyramidal skylights.

“Individuals: A Selected Survey of Contemporary Art, 1945-1986,” the inaugural show, features 430 works by 77 artists.
