Robert Carrelli, a drama teacher at Chatsworth High School, is one of 10 finalists for the fifth annual Music Center Bravo Award. The finalists were selected from a field of 113 nominees, representing 44 school districts throughout Southern California. Carrelli, a Northridge resident, is director of theatrical activities at the school. He has been teaching in Los Angeles Unified School District since 1956 and at Chatsworth High since 1968. The award, which will be given Feb. 2 at the Music Center, is part of the center’s promotion of arts within the classroom.

The San Fernando Valley Associates of the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation announced the recipients of its fourth annual Premiere Parents Award at a reception earlier this month. The honorees are Art and Betty Aston of Woodland Hills, Donald and Yvonne Fedderson of Encino, Richard and Ann McGeary of Northridge, and Tim and Marian Viole of Sherman Oaks. The awards ceremony, a fund-raiser for programs to prevent birth defects, honors Valley parents who have contributed their time and talents to help abused children and to promote culture. The couples will be honored at a dinner April 8 at the Sheraton Premiere Hotel in Universal City. Tickets are $100. For information and reservations, call Beth Cavanaugh at 818-956-8565.
