Glendale police are looking for two men in connection with the beating death of a local check-cashing store employee on Monday.

The victim, identified as 26-year-old Glendale resident Martha Vasquez, was pronounced dead at St. Joseph Medical Center shortly after the incident at Valley Check Cashing on San Fernando Road, Glendale police Sgt. Steve Campbell said.

Campbell refused to say whether any money was taken. He said Vasquez died after being struck numerous times with a blunt instrument. No one else was hurt, and no arrests had been made as of Wednesday.

A store employee, who declined to give her name, said Vasquez had worked for Valley Check Cashing for one year and had five children, ranging in age from 2 to 10 years old.

She said that Vasquez worked in a bulletproof security office and that all employees were under strict orders not to let in unauthorized people.

The woman said that the suspects must have convinced Vasquez to allow them inside the secured area.
