Lofton Suspended in Sex Case
GREEN BAY, Wis. — Green Bay Packers wide receiver James Lofton was accused today of sexually assaulting a woman in a stairwell and the Green Bay Packers suspended him shortly after his arrest.
The nine-year veteran was arrested at home about 7:30 a.m. and booked at the Brown County Jail on a charge of second-degree sexual assault. Coach Forrest Gregg said the suspension was effective for the National Football League team’s final game Saturday against the New York Giants and would be reviewed following the season. Lofton was a Stanford football and track star in the 1970s.
