Canyon 98, West Bakersfield 86--Greg Paskwietz scored a team-high 31 points and had 12 assists in an opening-round victory at the Kern County Shootout tournament at North Bakersfield High.

El Camino Real 51, Chatsworth 50--Junior guard Damon Orlando hit a 30-foot jump shot at the buzzer to give the Conquistadores (2-2) a nonleague victory at El Camino Real.

Orlando had 18 points for El Camino Real and Sean Davis added 14, while Jeff Martin had 18 for Chatsworth.

Reseda 84, Hollywood 53--Joe Crawford had 28 points and 12 rebounds as Reseda improved to 2-3. Teammate Gerald Evans had 13 points, while Robert Stepner and Jeff Ricks added 12 and 10 points, respectively. Reseda outrebounded Hollywood, 56-26.

Poly 102, Fremont J.V. 57--Poly (2-2) had a 49-35 lead at halftime, but bombed Fremont, 53-22, in the second half to win a first-round game in the Hamilton tournament. Poly will play Kennedy on Friday in the second round.

Holy Martrys 63, Cal Prep 61--Viken Tchorbajian scored 22 points and had five assists as Holy Martyrs advanced to the second round of the Brentwood tournament.

Montclair Prep 50, Flintridge 47 -- Craig Handschu and Dave Sanger combined to score 35 points as the Mounties (3-1) broke open a close game in the third quarter to win the championship game in the Flintridge Prep tournament.

GIRLS

Holy Martyrs 52, L.A. Sacred Heart 36--Ayline Amirayan scored 22 points and had seven assists as the Armens advanced to the final of the Marlborough tournament.

Hart 44, Saugus 38--Hart outrebounded Saugus, 48-13, and went on to win the nonleague game at Saugus. Danielle Wood led Hart (4-3) with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Corvallis 36, Brentwood 12--Lisa Senette scored nine points and had 12 rebounds as Corvallis took a 23-6 halftime lead and relied on its bench the rest of the way in the second round of the Marlborough tournament. Corvallis (2-3) will play Marlborough in today’s consolation championship.

COLLEGE MEN

College of the Canyons 84, Rio Hondo 74--Sophomore forward Ron Stapp scored a career-high 25 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as College of the Canyons advanced to the second round of the Crown City tournament at Pasadena City College by defeating Rio Hondo on Wednesday night.

Kevin Honaker added 16 points for College of the Canyons (9-4).

Mt. San Antonio College 71, Moorpark 54--Mt. SAC advanced to the semifinals of the Pasadena tournament by defeating Moorpark, which will face Rio Hondo today at 3 p.m. in the consolation bracket.

BOYS SOCCER

Alemany 3, Chaminade 2--Grant Runnerstrum scored two goals, including the game-winner, and Chris Lobos added a goal as Alemany (2-2) edged Chaminade in a nonleague game. Runnerstrum scored on a corner kick to give Alemany a 2-1 lead early in the second half.
