The family-owned newspaper in Arkansas, which won a Pulitzer Prize for editorial writing (on civil rights) in 1969, was sold to Donrey Media Group of Arkansas, which owns 55 other dailies, including 9 in California. Elsewhere, Brown Publishing of Cincinnati acquired Galvin Newspaper Group, adding six Ohio papers to the 12 that it already owns in the state. In Texas, the Laredo News ceased operation, its assets bought by its Hearst-owned competitor, the century-old Laredo Morning Times.
