Firefighters rescued an elderly man from a second-floor drug rehabilitation center in West Hollywood on Christmas morning after an arsonist touched off a fire in a Haagen-Dazs ice cream shop in an adjacent building. The fire broke out about 7:15 a.m. and caused about $156,000 in damage to the shop on Santa Monica Boulevard. Exploding flames shattered the first-floor windows of the ice cream store and threatened to spread to nearby businesses, including an alcohol and drug rehabilitation center called the West Hollywood Drug Center.
