Senior Administrator to Retire From NASA

WASHINGTON —
Burton I. Edelson, the most senior NASA official to have kept his job after the Challenger explosion last January, said Monday he plans to leave the agency in the spring.
Edelson, associate administrator for space science and applications for the past five years, said his resignation “has nothing to do with the Challenger accident.” Edelson was in charge of several non-shuttle programs at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, including astrophysics, medical research and planetary exploration.
