Local News in Brief : Motorcyclist Dies as He Hits Freeway Guardrail
A motorcyclist was killed early Wednesday when his vehicle struck a guardrail on the northbound Golden State Freeway in Sylmar, the California Highway Patrol said.
The 25-year-old man was traveling about 85 m.p.h. in the freeway’s far left lane when his motorcycle drifted to his left and struck the railing north of Balboa Boulevard, Officer David Banez said. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the 2:45 a.m. accident, Banez said.
The Los Angeles County coroner’s office identified the victim as Roger Victor Perea of Pacoima, a coroner’s spokesman said.
