Coca-Cola announced an agreement with China.
The $10-million investment agreement includes plans to build a plant in Shanghai to manufacture the soft-drink’s concentrate for the Chinese market. The agreement with Shanghai Investment Trust Co. and the Shanghai Food Industry Development Center also involves research and development focusing on “preparing raw materials and beverage base for Chinese soft drinks, including orange, lemon and tea products,” said R. Fenton-May, managing director of Coca-Cola China Ltd. The plant also will bottle Fanta Orange and Sprite soft drinks and produce plastic bottles.
