A woman and her five children escaped uninjured Monday night after a fire that caused $25,000 damage to their home in the 3100 block of Logan Avenue.
The blaze started about 10 p.m. when wooden framing around a fireplace caught fire, the San Diego Fire Department said. The flames spread to the attic but the family escaped safely, officials said.
