RALEIGH, N.C. — A hunter was arrested Tuesday and charged with shooting at a United Airlines jet as it was landing last week, injuring a passenger, the FBI said.
Robert Proulx of Raleigh was charged with destruction of an aircraft, a federal offense, said Paul Daly, special FBI agent in North Carolina.
The jetliner was hit by a rifle shot last Wednesday as it was landing at Raleigh-Durham Airport on a flight from Wilmington.
The bullet that pierced the plane hit Barry Rollins of New York City in the thigh and jaw. Rollins was in satisfactory condition Tuesday at Rex Hospital, a spokeswoman said.
Proulx, 23, had been hunting, Daly said.
