4 Valley Teams Prepare for Quarterfinal Round of City Soccer Playoffs on Tuesday

Four Valley teams survived the opening round of the 16-team City Section soccer playoffs and will advance to the quarterfinal round Tuesday.

East Valley League champion Poly will play Garfield at home in the second round. Poly defeated Monroe, 2-1, in Thursday’s opening round. Garfield, which won the Eastern League, defeated Westchester, 4-1.

Kennedy, which finished first in the Mid-Valley League, plays at Venice. Kennedy defeated Roosevelt, 3-1, in overtime, and Venice, winner of the Western League, defeated Narbonne, 2-1.

Grant, seeded second from the Mid-Valley League, plays at Belmont. Grant defeated Los Angeles, 2-1, and Belmont, which won the Northern League title, edged Reseda, 2-1.

Chatsworth plays at San Pedro in the second round. Chatsworth, winner of the West Valley League, beat Lincoln in overtime, 4-3. San Pedro, which won the Marine League, defeated Jefferson in the first round, 3-2.

All games are scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
