A Los Angeles federal judge is expected to decide whether Moorpark City Councilman Danny Allen Woolard’s confession that he took $5,500 from the post office where he worked should be allowed as evidence in his embezzlement trial. Court documents show that Woolard, 39, who was indicted by a federal grand jury Nov. 21, told postal inspectors he meant to repay the money, but “got caught up in the chain of events that all cocaine addicts experience.” He initially pleaded guilty, then said he was coerced into confessing. Assistant U.S. Atty. Duane J. Deskins denied that there had been coercion. Woolard had been employed at the Moorpark post office for 13 years.
