KAMPALA, Uganda — Security forces killed 132 rebels in a clash in strife-torn northern Uganda, state-run radio reported Thursday.
Quoting a government statement, the radio said that two government troops were also killed Wednesday in the battle, along the road linking the northern towns of Lira and Kitgum.
The radio said the army captured a large quantity of weapons from the rebels.
Former President Milton Obote, ousted in July, 1985, and Gen. Tito Okello, overthrown by President Yoweri Museveni one year ago, recently joined forces to fight Museveni’s government.
