Wake Forest’s Al Groh resigned as the Demon Deacons’ football coach, marking the fourth football coaching change in the Atlantic Coast Conference in the last two months.
Groh said he had no immediate plans to take another coaching job.
Groh’s contract expired at the end of the 1986 season. He and Gene Hooks, Wake Forest’s athletic director, had been negotiating since October. Groh said the school made several proposals but the terms were not acceptable to him.
