Protest Riot Follows Escape of Two Aliens
Associated Press
NEW YORK — Cuban refugees detained at an Immigration and Naturalization Service center in Greenwich Village burned mattresses and smashed windows Sunday to protest a suspension of visiting hours, authorities said. No injuries were reported.
The disturbance occurred a day after two illegal aliens escaped from the facility by climbing down a rope made of bedsheets. One of the escapees was recaptured, but the other remained at large.
