San Diego Women’s Basketball : San Diego State Falls on Hard Times in Las Vegas, 85-52

Angela Christian scored 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Nevada Las Vegas to an 85-52 Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. victory Saturday night over visiting San Diego State. Las Vegas (5-4, 10-7) took control of the game with an 11-point run midway through the first half.

The Aztecs (3-4, 6-10) made only 21 of 62 shots from the field. Debbie Rinder led SDSU with 10 points. Jessica Haynes added 9 points and 11 rebounds for the Aztecs.

California Lutheran 70, Point Loma Nazarene 65--Shannon Anderson of Point Loma Nazarene College scored 31 points in Thousand Oaks, but it was not enough as Point Loma lost its Golden State Athletic Conference game. Laura Mars added 20 points and 15 rebounds for Point Loma (0-2, 7-8). Gloria Phillips had 22 points and Heidi Griffith 19 for Cal Lutheran (2-1, 6-10).

USD 72, Santa Clara 62--The Toreras (1-2, 8-9) trailed at halftime, 29-28, but came back to win easily in a Western Collegiate Athletic Conference game. Karen Stemp, Julie Evans and Jane Gilpin each scored 14 points for USD. Dorinda Lindstrom was the game’s high scorer with 17 for Santa Clara (2-2, 7-8).

USF 70, USIU 67--The Gulls’ Dani Lowery missed a three-point shot at the buzzer to end USIU’s comeback attempt against the Dons (4-0, 12-5) in a WCAC game. USF took a five-point lead in the first half and led by 13 with 6:31 remaining in the game. Margaret Walsh of USF led all scorers with 17 points. Carolyn Davis, Sonya Carter and Daisy Mendes scored 14 points each for USIU (2-1, 9-7). Davis added a game-high 17 rebounds.
