A La Verne man was in stable condition after he was shot in the abdomen as he tried to stop a group of suspected gang members from spray-painting graffiti on a wall, police said. Daniel Sickles, 29, was wounded as he walked in the 2100 block of Orange Avenue with a group of people, said La Verne Police Sgt. John Ortega. The suspects fled in a brown Chevrolet El Camino truck, he said.
