Whoopi Goldberg put the first brass star in cement Monday for the San Francisco Studios’ new “Walk of Fame,” a knockoff of Hollywood’s more famous sidewalk of the stars. “Star Trek” regular George Takei joined in the promotion announcing that San Francisco finally has a first-rate, though rather compact, film studio of its own. San Francisco Studios, which opened 18 months ago, plans a path of stars and hand prints along some of the city’s least glamorous sidewalks for more than half a mile to City Hall by the turn of the century. Parts of “Star Trek IV” were shot there, as was much of Goldberg’s coming movie “Burglar” with Bob Goldthwait. Goldberg is currently working at the studio on “The Telephone.”
