Local News in Brief : Suspect Held in Deaths of 2 Women in Crash
A 22-year-old Sun Valley man was arrested on suspicion of murder Thursday, nearly four months after the car he was driving collided with another, killing two North Hollywood women, San Fernando police said.
Donald Allen Long is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in San Fernando Municipal Court on two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of Mary Rodriquez, 29, and Debra Reisner, 30, last October, Lt. Dan Peavy said.
Peavy said Long was driving east on Glenoaks Boulevard about 4:55 a.m. when he collided with a car carrying Rodriquez and Reisner, who were southbound on Maclay Avenue. Long’s car knocked the victims’ car into another vehicle, causing it to spin and hit a telephone pole, he said.
At the time, police did not have sufficient evidence to arrest Long, but Detective Dave Harvey found more witnesses and evidence, Peavy said. It has not been determined which car had the green light, he said.
Long was being held without bail in County Jail.
