A Tijuana woman who tried to reclaim her impounded sedan was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter in connection with an accident last Thursday that fatally injured a 22-year-old motorcyclist, police said.

Irma Espinoza Feliz Olives, 33, allegedly drove through a stop sign at Walnut Avenue and Del Amo Street and hit a motorcycle, Tustin Police Sgt. Michael Shanahan said Tuesday in a prepared statement.

Shanahan said Kevin Twist of Santa Ana died Sunday morning of head injuries at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana. Twist was on the motorcycle with his pregnant, 19-year-old wife, Tamatha, who was injured slightly. They were both wearing helmets, police said.

Twist was a Marine stationed at Tustin Marine Corps Helicopter Air Station, authorities said.

Police said Olives, who also is pregnant, was treated and released at Western Medical Center for back injuries sustained in the crash.

Shanahan said Olives was arrested when she came to the Police Department on Monday to inquire about getting her car back. She is being held in lieu of $10,000 bond in County Jail.
