Vreni Schneider of Switzerland posted her second victory in as many days, winning the women’s World Cup slalom at Saint Gervais, France, and moved to the top of the overall ski standings by one point.
Schneider finished with a time of 1 minute 36:15 seconds. Corinne Schmiedhauser, also of Switzerland, was second in 1:36:79, and Spain’s Blanca Fernandez-Ochoa followed in 1:36:90.
Schneider has 230 points in the overall World Cup standings, and teammate Maria Walliser has 229. Tamara McKinney of Olympic Valley, Calif., who was seventh in 1:37.12, leads the slalom standings with 99 points. Schneider is second with 84.
