Profit Climbs at Certron, but Revenue Falls by 14%

Certron Corp., an Anaheim maker of audio recording tapes and floppy disks, said that profit for its fiscal 1987 first quarter ended Jan. 31 increased by 2.5% to $125,000 from $122,000 for the same period last year. Sales, however, fell 14% to nearly $7 million from $8.1 million last year.
The company attributed the increased profit to cuts in its operating expenses but said that a decline in contract manufacturing was in part to blame for the drop in revenue.
