British police Thursday invited the Sun--a tabloid newspaper that claimed Elton John was involved in a sex-and-drugs racket--to supply details so that it could investigate the matter. In two articles this week, the paper linked the flamboyant popster to incidents with teen-age male prostitutes at the home of Billy Gaff, former manager of rock singer Rod Stewart. John is currently recuperating from throat surgery in Australia and has vehemently denied the allegations. On Wednesday, John’s lawyers issued a writ for libel against the tabloid. London detectives said Thursday they were eager to interview a teen-age source, identified in the Sun as “Graham X.”
