Buena Park : Soldering Starts $35,000 Blaze in Condominium
A plumber soldering pipes started a fire in a two-story condominium Thursday that caused an estimated $35,000 in damage.
According to Fire Department Division Chief William L. Jones, the fire began around 3:50 p.m. in the condominium’s first floor bathroom, then spread through the wall and into the attic. No one was injured, but property loss was placed at $30,000 and loss to the condominium’s contents at $5,000, Jones said.
He called the fire “a stubborn” one, explaining that it took 21 firefighters from Buena Park and Anaheim 45 minutes to put it out. The fire melted a water line connection, Jones said, spilling water over the first floor of the condominium and damaging the unit next door.
