Datum Inc., an Anaheim-based manufacturer of precision and timing devices for the military and industry, reported net income of $1 million for 1986, up 9% from 1985 net earnings of $976,000. Revenue for the year hit a record $24.2 million, a 26% increase from $19.1 million the prior year.

For the fourth quarter, the company posted net income of $266,000, down 24% from $353,000 a year earlier. Revenue for the final quarter was $6.7 million, up 24% from $5.4 million in the fourth quarter of 1985. The company said its earnings for the year were boosted by profits from two acquisitions--the Bancomm Corp. in San Jose, which manufactures timing equipment, and Spectrum Technology Inc. in Goleta, which manufactures crystal oscillators used in communications, navigation and industry.

The decline in fourth-quarter earnings, according to the company’s financial report, came largely from increased costs of manufacturing, product development and sales.
