The Rapid Transit District and members of its drivers’ union agreed to begin an “aggressive” campaign aimed at curbing absenteeism among operators and improving service for riders. The agreement was reached at a meeting of about 120 representatives of management and drivers and was announced at RTD headquarters by John Dyer, the district’s general manager, and Earl Clark, general chairman of the United Transportation Union. Dyer and Clark said committees with an equal representation of drivers and management will begin hearing operators’ complaints and suggestions about improving scheduling and service sometime in the next two weeks. The committees will be set up in each of the RTD’s 12 divisions.
