Maintenance
After reading the story (Feb. 22) about Music Center expansion on First Street, I would like to take the Music Center staff on a tour of the Civic Center to see the level of county building maintenance.
The Music Center is apparently seeking “an unprecedented guarantee to maintain and operate the facilities at a ‘world class’ level.” Good luck, Music Center!
One need only walk through the “new” Hall of Records to observe the level of maintenance in county buildings. When that building was dedicated, it was an architectural masterpiece. We who moved into that building were so impressed with it!
Now, I had the misfortune to find myself in that building a couple of weeks ago and was shocked to see what the county has done to it. It is incredible what the county has done, or failed to do, to that building in the course of a few years. I would not let the county maintain my tool shed.
Of course, if the Board of Supervisors would guarantee the same care of the new theaters as the eighth floor of the Hall of Administration (where their offices are) it would not be so bad.
