A man about 35 years old and a woman about 65 were found dead in a Newport Beach townhouse. Authorities had not yet positively identified the bodies, but police said a man and his mother of about those same ages lived at the home near Upper Newport Bay. A dog also was found dead in the house, on a bed next to the body of the man, Newport Beach Police Officer Kent Stoddard said. The bodies were discovered by a next-door neighbor, who noticed that a window in the townhouse was broken and peered in. She saw a woman’s body on the floor and called police. It was not immediately known how the pair was killed, but Sgt. Les Chapman said there was no question their deaths involved foul play.
