College Roundup : UC Irvine Has Big Fourth Inning to Defeat Portland in Baseball, 8-4
UC Irvine scored eight runs in the fourth inning, sending 13 batters to the plate as the Anteaters defeated the University of Portland, 8-4, in a nonconference baseball game Thursday at UC Irvine.
John Seeburger and Chris Gallego each had two hits for the Anteaters (9-11-1).
Dean Douty (1-1) was the winning pitcher.
Kevin Kandalaft gave up one hit over 3 innings for his second save.
In men’s volleyball action:
Cal State Northridge 3, Chapman 1--Mike Bird had 19 kills and freshman Ron Lins added 11 to lead Cal State Northridge to a nonconference victory over Chapman at Orange. Erich Schlitz led the Panthers (2-4) with 19 kills and Bob Jones had 11.
